CSS Naked Day 2009

The idea behind this event is to promote Web Standards. Plain and simple. This includes proper use of (x)html, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure, and of course, a good 'ol play on words. It's time to show off your <body>.~CND

Hurrah, the annual CSS Naked Day is upon us once again! I participated joyfully in 2008 and 2007, so of course I had to continue the tradition this year. :) Do you support websites being semantically-designed underneath? Then join in the cause now! :D

One thing to remember is that this event has absolutely nothing to do with CSS or styling in the long run. It has everything to do with how the website is structured through its markup. My own theory is that if your site is well-structured then you will have less frustration when it comes to styling that structure. Check out my post Why Sans CSS? to find out more about why I think semantics are so important.

Oh and not to censor anyone or anything, hehe, but I'd rather not see comments going on about how you can't LIVE without your pretty colors and images and whatever or you're "too scared" to turn off your design or worried about your visitors not EVAR coming back, oh noes! 8| If you think you'll have a panic attack just by turning off your stylesheet for a few hours, then you may want to consider trying to make it a goal to have your site look sexy at the code-level. It's not just about the shiny-ness. :P

I'm not going to judge or persecute you if you don't participate in this year's CND, but I think the only remotely valid reason for not doing so is that you're just lazy. ;) Oh, but you can't really use that as an excuse either because there are several plugins and other tools you can set up on your site to automatically take care of everything. ;)

Oh, there might be a surprise happening here after CND is over! What could it be? XD
